To provide preschool education knowledge for children aged 2 to 6 and their parents, promote shared reading among young children, and encourage parent-child physical activities, the Keelung City Government has successively established educational resource centers in kindergartens and launched parent-child interactive holiday courses. This year, across seven administrative districts and eight activity sites in Keelung City, a series of parent-child interactive courses are scheduled every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The city government stated that since this academic year, the Keelung Educational Resource Centers have organized a total of 99 parent-child interactive courses during holidays. On the 18th, Mayor Lin You-chang and Education Department Director Chen Sufen held a press conference at the city hall, inviting parents and children to learn and play together through hands-on and mind-engaging activities.

Chen Sufen noted that Keelung is the first in the nation to have an educational resource center in each administrative district, offering diverse and interactive courses such as parent-child games, parent-child board games, parent-child cooking, and insect ecology every Saturday or Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. With a total of eight activity sites across the city’s seven districts, these parent-child holiday interactive courses have been in high demand, often selling out quickly. Chen Sufen said that engaging and fun interactive courses are planned each week to stimulate children’s sensory perception and self-exploration thinking skills, promote the development of both large and small muscle groups, and help parents understand preschool education and their children’s characteristics. These courses guide parent-child interaction and shared learning, enhancing positive engagement, strengthening family education, and creating happy memories together.

The Education Department explained that the course schedules at each district’s educational resource center activity site are as follows: 14 sessions at Nuannuan Elementary School in Nuannuan District, 16 sessions at the Municipal Guogang Kindergarten; 15 sessions at the Guanghua Branch of the Municipal Anxin Kindergarten in Ren’ai District; 10 sessions at Dongguang Elementary School in Xinyi District; 14 sessions at Zhongzheng Elementary School in Zhongzheng District; 9 sessions at Zhonghua Elementary School in Zhongshan District; 8 sessions at the Municipal Jiande Kindergarten in Anle District; and 13 sessions at the Baifu Branch of the Municipal Anxin Kindergarten in Qidu District, totaling 99 sessions for the entire year.
