Toucheng Township now has another excellent spot for parent-child interaction and fun. The township office has planned a “Parent-Child Inclusive Amusement Park” within the Toucheng Sports Park. With a budget of NT$3 million allocated in August this year, construction began through contracting, and the project was fully completed earlier this month. After passing over a hundred safety inspections, Township Mayor Cao Ganshun happily announced the official opening of the “Parent-Child Inclusive Amusement Park” on the morning of the 16th.

The Social Affairs Section of the Toucheng Township Office stated that the Toucheng Municipal Sports Park covers a large area and originally included facilities such as basketball courts, an ice-skating rink, parking lots, a swimming pool, leisure pathways, parent-child play equipment, and artificial hill landscaping. It has been an important daily recreational and sports venue for local residents. To further meet children’s leisure and recreational needs and to inspire their creativity through play, the township has planned and designed the “Parent-Child Inclusive Amusement Park,” suitable for shared use by families. The park’s equipment includes a grassy slope slide, climbing nets, sand pits, bird’s nest swings, sleds, honeycomb-shaped play sets, spinning discs, whispering tubes, and musical wall panels. These facilities not only allow all children, including those with physical or mental disabilities, to play and explore together but also take into account the needs of caregivers. The aim is to create a family-friendly and inclusive sports space.

After Mayor Cao Ganshun announced the official opening, the children from the nearby Toucheng Municipal Kindergarten, who had been waiting nearby, immediately burst into cheers and ran excitedly to the various play facilities to enjoy themselves. Mayor Cao also acted as a temporary “king of kids,” playing along with the children.

Mayor Cao Ganshun said that playgrounds are places that nurture children’s growth. Joseph Lee, known as the father of play and sports fields, once said: “Play is entertainment and recovery for adults; for children, it is growth and gaining life.” The township office has carefully planned play facilities that offer exploration, challenge, stimulation, and interaction. Among them, the grassy slope slide and the honeycomb-shaped play set are made of concrete structures. Moving away from conventional off-the-shelf play equipment, they use durable natural materials like concrete to provide families with a more diverse, stimulating, and fun play space. This allows children to learn interpersonal skills and cooperation, satisfying the needs of different age groups for relaxation, enjoyment, and full energy release. He also hopes everyone will take good care of the facilities so the “Parent-Child Inclusive Amusement Park” can achieve its greatest benefits.
