Nantou Flower Carnival series—Xinyi Township’s “Tracking Snow to Find Plum Blossoms”—the grand finale featuring family-friendly barrel rolling and couples’ piggyback relay races kicked off on the 6th at Liu Family Plum Garden. Nantou County Deputy Magistrate Chen Zheng? also joined in the fun, welcoming everyone to Xinyi Township to admire plum and cherry blossoms, soak in Dongpu Hot Springs, and shop for quality local agricultural products.
Huang Zhihui, head of Xinyi Township Farmers’ Association, said that the “Tracking Snow to Find Plum Blossoms” event has entered its 19th year. This year, with the scenic landscape, old plum branches, and blue skies, the experience of viewing plum blossoms is even more delightful. Currently, the floral conditions in Wusong? and Waipingding are excellent, and the public is welcome to come and enjoy them. Xinyi Township Mayor Quan Zhijian also noted that after enjoying the plum blossoms, the cherry blossom season will soon follow—don’t miss it.
Due to site limitations and safety considerations, this year the “Rolling the Oak Barrel” activity was changed for the first time to a family-friendly barrel-carrying relay. Although the rules changed, the fun remained undiminished, attracting many participants. Later, it was divided into four groups, with couples or parent-child duos competing in pairs. Those who completed the challenge were rewarded with MALASUN prune black rye juice and a pack of “Persistence Series” dried plum persimmons.
Changhua County encourages farmers to plant cosmos, sunflowers, and rapeseed in fallow rice paddies, creating stunning floral fields. Over several consecutive weekends, vibrant flower seas spanning over 10 hectares—in areas such as Tianzhong’s Wanggaoliao, Nanxin Village in Puyan Township, Jinling Village in Xiushui Township, and Zhuyuan Li near the Huwei Interchange of National Freeway 3—have drawn many families for outings.
Known as Taiwan’s “Rice Barn,” Tianzhong Town features vast rice fields around Wanggaoliao. This year, eight hectares of cosmos and rapeseed blossoms have been blooming successively since New Year’s Day. The Zhuanyuan Flower Sea in Hemei Town, now in its fourth year hosting the “Flourishing Hemei” event, invites visitors to stroll through its expansive 14-hectare flower fields, which also feature large inflatable play equipment and clown performances, attracting tourists from afar for photo opportunities.
