Frequent child abuse cases have been reported recently. To encourage the public to foster harmonious and happy families, the Keelung City Government is leveraging activities such as board games to strengthen parent-child relationships. The Keelung City Family Education Center and the Department of Tourism, Leisure, and Health at Chung Kuo & Health Management College will jointly host two free lecture sessions in February. Mayor Lin Yu-chang and Department of Education Director Chen Sufen are urging the public to sign up enthusiastically.
Director Chen Sufen stated at a press conference following the city affairs meeting today (the 16th) that the events will take place on February 16 and 23, on the 9th floor of the Innovation and Development Center in the Anle District Administrative Building. The sessions titled “Fun with Parent-Child Board Games, Zero-Distance Communication” and “The Happiness Formula: Building Better Relationships” will be held. During the press conference, the Department of Education and the Family Education Center also used an engaging theatrical skit to communicate the idea of seamless parent-child communication, aiming to help families cultivate happier lives.
Chen Sufen said that a happy family is something people aspire to and is also a crucial foundation for a child’s healthy development. Using board game activities to teach participants how to create a happy atmosphere and establish harmonious parent-child family relationships allows everyone to feel a strong sense of happiness.
The Department of Education added that the sessions will be led by Lin Lien-li, a teacher from the Department of Tourism, Leisure, and Health at Chung Kuo. Through innovative smart equipment and spaces, along with a “learn while playing” approach, parents will be able to identify communication issues with their children, learn parent-child communication skills, conflict resolution, and relationship repair.
Additionally, the Department of Education emphasized that tools such as environmental education vegetable and fruit cards and board games can guide families present to learn about interpersonal relationships and interactions with nature, helping to build harmonious and close-knit family bonds. The event brochure and registration form can be viewed and downloaded from the Family Education Center’s official website at http://kl.familyedu.moe.gov.tw/, or by calling the center’s administrative hotline at 02-24271724 for inquiries.
