9 hair-raising things that can happen at the airport — how many have you experienced?

Unexpected incidents can happen while traveling, and I’d say about 20% of them occur at the airport. Everyone gets careless sometimes, and it’s enough to make you break out in a cold sweat before your trip even begins. Have you ever had any of these 9 scary experiences?

1) Forgetting Your Passport
You remembered your wallet, phone, and compass, but forgot the most important thing — your passport. What do you do?

2) Incorrect Name on the Ticket
My last name and first name were reversed on my plane ticket when I traveled last month, which took some time for the ground staff to correct.

3) Not Having a Visa
Before a trip to Australia, I once realized I hadn’t applied for a visa. Luckily, I was able to get one at the airport on the spot. Otherwise, my expensive flight would’ve gone to waste.

4) Not Bringing Enough Money
Running out of cash while traveling means less shopping and more reliance on your credit card.

5) Getting the Boarding Time Wrong
Double-check your ticket information the day before departure to avoid any timing mistakes.

6) Taking the Wrong Luggage
Remember the movie *Meet The Fockers*? Ben Stiller’s character starts off losing his luggage and then ends up with the wrong bag — full of adult items — which his future father-in-law sees. Pretty cringe-worthy. I’ve also accidentally left a carry-on bag behind at the airport. Always double-check your belongings.

7) Going to the Wrong Terminal
Make sure you know exactly where your flight departs from, especially at international airports with multiple terminals. Getting the wrong one can be a disaster.

8) Bringing Prohibited Items Through Security
Sometimes we accidentally pack water, skincare products, nail clippers, or sprays in our carry-ons. Always check your bag before going through security.

9) Arriving Late at the Gate
Time flies when you’re shopping at the airport duty-free stores. Fortunately, I’ve never been late for boarding.
