Attention travelers from southern Taiwan: China Airlines will launch the Tainan–Osaka route on October 28, 2015, operating twice a week with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, offering 8 business class and 150 economy class seats to serve passengers.

Currently, China Airlines has a total of 2 A333 medium-sized passenger aircraft, 4 738s, and 2 ERJs parked at its southern base for international flight operations, aiming to connect the flight networks of Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. In 2013, China Airlines launched charter flights on the Tainan–Hong Kong route, which was the only international route from Tainan at the time. The new regular Tainan–Osaka flights will be added, along with existing services to Osaka including Taipei–Osaka (21 weekly flights) and Kaohsiung–Osaka (12 weekly flights). Starting October 28, the China Airlines Group will operate a total of 35 weekly regular flights to Osaka. In addition to Osaka, other regular Japanese destinations from Kaohsiung include Tokyo (7 weekly flights), Okinawa (7 weekly flights), and Hokkaido (5 weekly flights).

With the launch of the Tainan–Osaka route, group tours mainly from the Tainan area are planning five-day, four-night selected itineraries departing on Saturdays. Tainan–Osaka premium travel products will also go on sale in early June. Starting from the launch date, the route will offer fixed-itinerary tours to Osaka as well as themed trips to Kyoto, Nara, Arima Onsen, Kobe, and more, with each package starting from NT$15,200 (excluding tax) per person, including breakfast at the hotel and a two-day Kansai Thru Pass. For the Osaka–Tainan route, China Airlines is also planning special promotional travel packages to Taiwan, such as “buy one night, get one free” or “buy two nights, get one free” at selected hotels to celebrate the new route.
