See a 360-degree panoramic view in 15 minutes – Hong Kong’s Ferris wheel becomes a new attraction

If you want to enjoy the cityscape of Hong Kong, taking a ride on the Peak Tram is no longer your only option. The “Hong Kong Eye,” which began operating at the end of last year, is located near the Central Ferry Piers. This 60-meter-tall Ferris wheel offers passengers sweeping views of Hong Kong’s urban landscape and harbor as it slowly ascends, making it a brand-new and must-try experience for travelers visiting the city.

The Ferris wheel has 42 gondolas, each capable of carrying 8 to 10 people. The entire ride lasts between 15 to 20 minutes, with adult tickets priced at HK$100 per ride and child tickets at HK$70. The massive Ferris wheel was manufactured by a Swiss company in the Netherlands and is designed to meet the world’s highest safety standards, built to withstand typhoon-force winds, including those during Signal No. 10. Among its features are specially designed fully transparent VIP gondolas available for rent.

Travelers who have ridden the Miramar Ferris Wheel in Taiwan may want to give this Hong Kong version a try. While the size of the gondolas is quite similar, the view and experience are remarkably different. Free WiFi is also provided inside the gondolas. During the 15 to 20-minute ride on the Hong Kong Eye, the Ferris wheel completes approximately 2 to 3 rotations, allowing passengers to take in views of Victoria Harbour, surrounding skyscrapers, and the city’s mountain-and-water scenery—an experience rarely found in Hong Kong.
