After autumn arrives, before the maple leaves turn, the ginkgo forest takes on its golden hues first. In the Dashantou area of Lugu Township, Nantou, besides the sea of clouds and the shimmering light, lies the largest ginkgo forest in Taiwan and even Southeast Asia. Recently, its leaves have turned from tender green to golden yellow, complementing the vast tea fields—a sight hailed as the most stunning moment of the year for the ginkgo forest.

Located in Dashan, Lugu Township, Nantou, the “Wuxiu Farm” sits at an altitude of 1,300 to 1,600 meters. Initially, farmers planted around 60 to 80 hectares of ginkgo trees among high-mountain oolong tea plantations in accordance with the government’s mixed-forest land conservation policy. A ginkgo viewing trail was also built behind the restaurant. Strolling along it, you can breathe in the rich phytoncides and feel refreshed.

Every autumn, the colorful ginkgo forest and the oolong tea fields create a delightful contrast, with the green-and-gold interplay being especially enchanting. Travelers can follow the Twelve Zodiac Bends along the Xueshilin Highway, turning onto a local road at the Sheep Bend to enter the mountain pass. Despite the long drive, it still attracts many nature-loving visitors. Additionally, the ginkgo forest trail was recently upgraded at the end of August, featuring new facilities that connect elevated walkways, ginkgo paths, and rest platforms.
