The 20th Yilan Children's Folk Games is set to kick off on July 4 (Saturday) at the Dongshan River Water Park in Yilan. Today (15th), 40 dancers from the Lanyang Dance Troupe and Lanyang Theater Troupe, disguised as air travelers and travel agency guides, appeared among the crowds at Taoyuan Airport and performed a surprise group dance flash mob to announce to both domestic and international visitors: "The Children's Folk Games are here!"

Lin Chiu-fang, chief curator of the Children's Folk Games and head of Yilan County’s Cultural Affairs Bureau, said that the 2015 Children's Folk Games takes “Flight” as its theme, symbolizing not only a new stage for the festival but also the hope that it will continue to innovate and excel. This year’s “Children's Folk Games Creative Culture Pavilion” focuses on three major industries — stationery, toys, and furniture — representing the latest effort by the festival to promote creative culture related to traditional games. For performances, 22 youth and children’s folk dance troupes from 19 countries including Russia and Hungary have been invited to showcase global cultural flavors. As for games, in addition to the popular water attractions, there is a new highlight on land — the “Game Sky Tower,” a 14-meter-high play structure built with steel frames.

In addition, Magistrate Lin Tsong-shyan also announced that passengers using public transportation (including TRA, THSR, and national highway buses) to get to the Children's Folk Games can enjoy discounted ticket prices when presenting a ticket stub from the previous day or the same day at the event. The offer includes buy 3 get 1 free on weekdays, and buy 4 get 1 free on holidays.

Pre-sale tickets — From June 1 to June 30, pre-sale individual tickets are NT$300 on holidays and NT$200 on weekdays; pre-sale child tickets are NT$200 on holidays and NT$100 on weekdays (for children aged 6 and above but under 12, or those between 115 cm and 150 cm tall),
Pre-sale locations from June 2 to June 28 are Yilan County Cultural Center and Luodong Cultural Factory; convenience stores 7-11, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, and OK Mart will sell tickets from June 1 to July 3.
Regular tickets — During the event period, individual tickets are NT$350 on holidays and NT$250 on weekdays; concession tickets are NT$300 on holidays and NT$200 on weekdays (groups of 20 or more must enter via the same transportation or book in advance; National Travel Card holders [one card valid for one day, limited to two tickets], holders presenting paper ticket stubs from other counties traveling to Yilan via TRA, Capital Bus, Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport, Gama Lin Bus, or Ubus from the previous day or the same day [one stub limits to one ticket], as well as E.SUN Bank cardholders [one card valid for one day, limited to four tickets] or iPass users can enjoy discount benefits).
