On the 25th, Hualien Tourist Sugar Factory announced the trial operation of its second-phase guesthouse. During the trial period from July to the end of August, guests can enjoy a 50% discount on pricing for the charming, standalone Japanese-style wooden lodges (Phase II guesthouse), paying only NT$1,250 per person.

Hualien Tourist Sugar Factory stated that during the trial operation period from July to the end of August, the newly opened second-phase guesthouse offers a 50% discount, with each room accommodating up to four people. The original price of a Grade-A dormitory is NT$10,000, discounted to NT$5,000; the original price of a Grade-B dormitory is NT$8,400, discounted to NT$4,200.

Located near Guangfu Railway Station in Hualien County, Hualien Tourist Sugar Factory was once a key sugar production hub in eastern Taiwan. Over time, it has gradually transformed into a tourist and recreational destination. Here, you can savor the famed sugar factory ice cream, stay in Japanese-style wooden houses that were once employee dormitories, and ride bicycles around the factory grounds to enjoy a “slow life.”

The newly opened second-phase guesthouse includes both Grade-A and Grade-B dormitories, differing from the first-phase guesthouse which only offered tatami-style bedding. The Grade-A and Grade-B dormitories feature both Western-style bedrooms and Japanese-style rooms, ensuring that fans of Japanese wooden lodges don’t have to worry about the difficulty of getting up from traditional futons—offering comfort for all age groups.
