Taste the flavor of coconut milk in Hanoi’s sweet frozen coffee!

I don’t usually drink coffee, but while researching, I found out that Vietnamese coffee is often made with a lot of condensed milk—basically sweet frozen drinks—so I really wanted to give it a try.

After doing some research online for interesting cafés, I stumbled upon Cong Caphe, which has several branches in Hanoi. Each branch has a different interior design and unique vibe—it’s that kind of hip café where they scatter all sorts of quirky items around, leave the walls and floors deliberately unfinished or even distressed, and hang random junk on the walls.

I went to the one near Hoan Kiem Lake, a small house with each floor decorated differently, mainly connected by a red floral theme. My favorite part was the terrace, where I could enjoy the breeze and look down at the bustling streets below. Cars, motorbikes, and people of all sizes moved non-stop along the road—Hanoi is truly a busy city!

When I asked the staff to recommend a drink, he initially suggested a smoothie, but as someone who values health, I felt cold drinks weren’t ideal, so I told him I wanted iced coffee but not too cold. He seemed to understand—or maybe not—and pointed me to another option: coffee with coconut & milk. I went with that.

The coffee even had latte art—pretty meticulous, huh? It tasted pretty good too, and there was honestly no coffee flavor at all (huh?). The sweetness wasn’t over the top either; at least it came from the natural sweetness of coconut milk.
