Leofoo Waterpark officially kicked off its Okinawa event today (the 4th), with the blessing bell rung by Yunlin County Deputy Magistrate Chang Huang-chen, Kukenag Township Mayor Huang I-ling, Okinawa General Affairs Bureau Overseas Advisor Yakenaga Yoshitaka, and Leofoo Waterpark General Manager Yu Yi-hsien. Five major themed photo spots have been set up within the park ! Among them, three attractions are located in front of the Ferris wheel. First, inspired by the “Oku no Hana Kazari” (Mountain Village Carp Streamer Festival) held annually during Golden Week in Okinawa’s northernmost village called “Oku,” Leofoo Waterpark has created a 20-meter-long “Carp Streamer Tunnel” in front of the Ferris wheel, allowing visitors of all ages to walk through the tunnel and experience Japanese cultural vibes.

The second attraction draws inspiration from the traditional Okinawan “EISA dance” (taiko drum dance) and features a symbolic taiko drum wall that visitors can play to send blessings to their loved ones. The third spot is the Aigiya Church, a popular wedding chapel in Okinawa known for its dreamy and elegant seascape backdrop that has captured the hearts of couples dreaming of overseas weddings !

The fourth attraction is “Naminoue Shrine,” one of Okinawa’s eight major shrines, which is distinctive for its black torii gate and has symbolized the protection and peace of Okinawa since the Ryukyu Kingdom era. The final attraction is inspired by Okinawa’s annual highlight — the “Naha Tug-of-War Festival.” Here, a 3D photo zone features a massive one-meter-diameter rope, giving visitors the immersive feeling of joining thousands of locals in an epic tug-of-war from afar !

The performances are equally spectacular. Leofoo Waterpark has brought in traditional Okinawan lion dances and taiko drumming. With the powerful beats of the taiko drums paired with Okinawan melodies, visitors can enjoy the “Shisa Festival Show” on the Viking Stage in the water park, immersing themselves in the relaxing vibe of an Okinawan beach. For food, the park’s restaurants have specially prepared Okinawan sets such as “Sea Grapes Rice” and “Brown Sugar Pork Cutlet Rice.” They’ve also imported limited-edition items from Okinawa, like dried bitter melon and brown sugar cookies, creating an Okinawan-themed goods street for visitors to explore and shop to their heart’s content !
