Taiwan’s First Glow-in-the-Dark Sand Sculpture — The Night Scene at Fulong Beach in New Taipei Is Truly Enchanting!

Recently, a glowing sand sculpture has appeared on Fulong Beach, illuminating under the starry sky and creating a dazzling spectacle. This is the latest work of the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival — “Radiant Rebirth.” The Northeast Coast & Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration stated that after Typhoon Chan-hom passed through, over ten out of the 66 sand sculptures from the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival were severely damaged or even completely destroyed. In addition to urgently restoring the repairable sculptures, they also created a brand-new sculpture within three days. Named “Radiant Rebirth,” it is Taiwan’s first glow-in-the-dark sand sculpture.

As the name suggests, “Radiant Rebirth” aims to distinguish itself from the previously typhoon-damaged “After Tomorrow” sand sculpture area. The small feathers at the base of the sculpture symbolize destruction, while the large wings above represent rebirth, signifying boundless hope ahead. Additionally, LED spotlights have been embedded directly into the large hands located in the central part of the sculpture, making the palms glow and casting a radiant halo around the wings. The entire sand sculpture exudes a heartwarming aura. It is hoped that this sculpture will offer prayers for those still hospitalized due to the dust explosion incident, as well as invoke blessings for Taiwan. This prayer sand sculpture, which is five meters wide and nearly four meters tall, is located on the west side of the Rainbow Bridge and offers different views whether you visit during the day or in the evening.

In addition to the new prayer sand sculpture, a “Sand Sculpture Destruction Show” will be held weekly until the end of August. On Saturday, July 25, celebrities will be invited to Fulong Beach to interact with visitors. During the event period, those who upload photos with the sand sculptures to the Facebook fan page will have a chance to win a NT$10,000 accommodation voucher.
