Taitung Hot Air Balloon Festival: Free Flight for Those Born in the Year of the Goat

The Taitung Hot Air Balloon Festival officially took off on the morning of June 27 and has since attracted a large number of visitors. As this is the Year of the Goat, Taitung County Government has launched a special “Prosperity for the Goats” surprise event. Visitors born in the Year of the Goat who are 12 years old or above may have the chance to ride a hot air balloon for free.

The “Prosperity for the Goats” surprise event will be held on five specific days: July 20, 24, 30, and August 3 and 9. Each day, three free spots for riding the hot air balloon will be reserved in the morning and afternoon for those born in the Year of the Goat. Participants can draw lots at the Luye Plateau event service center. Those who aren’t selected will still receive one of ten consolation prizes. This event does not reserve spots in advance—if flights are canceled due to weather, the county government will offer small gifts as compensation.
