The Classic Return of Jinguashi Station – Gold Museum Revives Nostalgic Old Bus Terminal on August 1

The visitor center, the first main building at the entrance of the New Taipei City Gold Museum, was originally a station of Taiwan Motor Transport Co., Ltd. For many longtime residents of Jinguashi, it holds significant nostalgic value as the place where they used to board buses operated by the Provincial Highway Bureau. To revive these collective memories,the Gold Museum will recreate a 30-year-old old bus and station on August 1, bringing back the original look of Jinguashi.

Over thirty years ago, buses operated by the Provincial Highway Bureau crisscrossed Taiwan. The whirring of rotary fans and the rumbling engine sounds near the driver’s seat are cherished memories from many people’s youth. Aside from transforming the visitor center into a recreation of the old Jinguashi station through spatial redesign, the Training Institute of the Highway Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has specially donated a retired 1984 training vehicle, which has been restored to resemble the exterior of a classic bus. The retro bus will officially open to the public on August 1, allowing visitors to relive nostalgic childhood memories.
