New Option for Cyclists in Hsinchu: The Xinglong Bridge Bike Path Is All the Rage

Living a healthy, active lifestyle has become a goal for more and more people, and cycling has gained increasing popularity as part of this trend. Popular bike paths have also become pilgrimage destinations for cyclists during holidays, and among them,Hsinchu County’s Xinglong Bridgehas become one of the newest rising cycling routes.

In addition to its primary function of easing traffic between Zhubei and the Hsinchu Science Park, Xinglong Bridge connects the Zhubei bicycle path with Hsinchu City’s Gongdao 5th Road. Stretching across the Touqian River, the bridge offers a stunning view of Highway 68 from above and allows riders to feel the thrilling rush of high-speed trains flying past. It has unexpectedly become a new popular cycling route. Families come together to ride under the gentle morning sun and light breeze, enjoying a perfect moment of leisure on the holiday.

The north bank of the Touqian River riverside bicycle path has been gradually connected section by section following instructions from Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun after taking office. Starting eastward from the Touqian River Bridge along the embankment, the section between Jingguo Bridge and High-Speed Rail Section 9 was completed in November 2011, and 1,612 meters of guardrails were improved. The completed Xinglong Bridge includes pedestrian and bicycle lanes, connecting to the riverside bicycle path below the bridge and linking the north and south banks of the Touqian River into a circular network. It has become a popular hotspot where friends gather to cycle or go jogging together.

Additionally, when lit up by LED lights at night, Xinglong Bridge resembles a galaxy slicing through the dark sky, dazzling and eye-catching. It attracts cyclists from all over, helping to drive a new wave of healthy, active living in Hsinchu County.
