August 8 maiden flight Taipei–Haneda | Peach Aviation: Will recruit flight attendants in Taiwan next year

Peach Aviation is set to officially launch its Taipei (Taoyuan)–Tokyo (Haneda) route on August 8, becoming the first low-cost carrier from Taiwan to fly to Haneda Airport. The airline also revealed that starting spring 2016, it will recruit flight attendants in Taiwan for the first time, further strengthening ties between the two regions.

This will be Peach Aviation’s first overseas recruitment drive. Applicants will need to have Japanese language proficiency and align with the company’s values and culture. Crew members will be based in Osaka, and their salaries and benefits will be on par with those of Japanese flight attendants.

Shinichi Inoue, CEO of Peach Aviation, stated that the newly launched Taipei–Haneda route is the airline’s fourth in Taiwan. Haneda Airport is just a 20-minute ride from central Tokyo, making it even more convenient. Inoue also pointed out that Peach’s primary customer base consists of women aged 20–30. In 2014, the average cabin occupancy rate was 85.8%, and the on-time performance rate reached 98.9%. Among international routes, foreign passengers accounted for over 60%, and the total number of passengers on the Taiwan–Japan route has exceeded 900,000, with Taiwanese passengers outnumbering Japanese ones—building a bridge between the two regions.

The inaugural flight on August 8 may be affected by a typhoon, and Inoue stated that the decision will depend on the weather. Facing competition from two other Taiwanese low-cost carriers entering the Taipei–Haneda route, Inoue also noted that Peach offers high-quality Japanese-style service and a distinctive brand image, which will help differentiate it in the market.
