After Typhoon Soudelor left Taiwan, Yilan’s Taipingshan — which received the highest rainfall in the country — was hit with over a thousand millimeters of rain, causing damage to roads within the Taipingshan Forest Recreation Area. The Forestry Bureau stated that the road conditions in Taipingshan are poor and will not be easily repaired in the near term.

The Luodong Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau stated that the building of the Tuchang Station Exhibition Hall also nearly succumbed to the floods during this event. There were multiple landslides and collapses along the road to the recreation area, and repair crews have been dispatched, but it is still unclear when the forest recreation area will reopen; the public is advised to check the official website for updates at that time.
