It’s not easy for a hipster-style beverage shop to carve out its own niche. This fruit drink shop in Tainan, “Floating Days,” is not only adorable and pastel-colored, but the owner uses only fresh, high-quality ingredients made to order. The shop’s biggest highlight is its “menu” — upon closer inspection, all the drink names are inspired by Jay Chou’s songs. Customers find it really fun, sipping their drinks while reminiscing about the idols of the post-90s generation!

Since opening last summer vacation, Floating Days continues to attract many visitors. The owner visits the local market daily to handpick fruits — the use of quality ingredients is no doubt why customers keep coming back. The shop offers a range of freshly blended seasonal fruit drinks, including smoothies, fruit ices, and juices, all combining great looks with health benefits. Each drink also has a unique name, all inspired by Jay Chou songs, which is quite amusing. The cup logo is a pink floating cloud that melts the hearts of many girls, and every drink has a dreamy color.

The owner’s wife originally enjoyed making fresh juice at home, but found it hard to get a good drink when out — worrying about hygiene or shops using too much water. She wanted to share her favorite juice combinations with others and let more people enjoy healthy, fresh juices, which became the reason she opened the shop. As for naming the drinks after Jay Chou songs? That’s simply because she’s a huge Jay Chou fan!

The owner said that all the fruits are personally selected at the market. Every cup of juice goes through multiple trials before being served — sometimes a blend may taste good but not look appealing, and that won’t do either. It has to look good, taste smooth, and be delicious. The fruits are never frozen (except for imported berries), and only seasonal produce is used, so the menu is updated roughly once a season. Additionally, the space is transparent, allowing customers to see the drink-making process, which makes them feel more at ease.
