Tokyo’s specialty hamburger steak shop “My Tonkatsu Yamamoto” opens in Taiwan; Taipei branch to debut on September 1

Unlike American-style hamburgers, Japanese hamburger steaks are uniquely distinctive and considered an everyday dish in many Japanese households, making them one of the country’s national foods. The renowned hamburger steak specialty shop “My Tonkatsu Yamamoto,” which already has six branches in Tokyo, is also coming to Taiwan. It is expected to open its doors in Taipei’s East District on September 1.

In Taiwan, when people hear “hamburger steak,” most think of “hamburgers.” In reality, the two are not the same. A “hamburger” refers to a sandwich made with two slices of bread enclosing various fillings, whereas a “hamburger steak” refers solely to the meat patty. Hamburger steaks were introduced to Japan from Western cuisine and later evolved through multiple adjustments to become a classic dish. Today, it is a refined meal that Japanese mothers often make at home and that many restaurants serve. “My Tonkatsu Yamamoto” is being introduced to Taiwan by Dapin Catering Group, and its Taiwan No. 1 store will be located near the Taipei Metro

"Ore no Hamburger Yamamoto" uses imported Australian beef and locally raised Taiwanese pork, with whole fresh cuts prepared on-site through processes including mincing, kneading, pounding, shaping, and pan-frying. Currently, there are seven main menu items available. Alongside Japan’s most popular signature "Classic Yamamoto Burger Patty" and the homestyle "Chef’s Burger Patty," options also include the refreshing Japanese-style "Citrus Vinegar Mashed Radish Burger Patty," the "Tomato Hot Pot Burger Patty," the Japan-Korea fusion "Kimchi Cheese Hot Pot Burger Patty," as well as bold-flavored choices like the "Q-Grilled Burger Patty" and the "Mentaiko Burger Patty." Additionally, there's a kid-friendly burger patty meal designed for children.
