Explore the Birthplace of Taoism: Jiangxi’s Yingtan Boasts Dragon Tiger Mountain and Danxia Landforms

According to the latest statistics from China's National Tourism Administration, Jiangxi Province received over 300,000 Taiwanese visitors in 2014, marking a 2.97% increase compared to 2013. To further promote exchanges between the two regions, Vice Mayor of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, Gu Qing, led a delegation to Taipei today (August 18) to host a tourism promotion event. Over 50 Taiwanese travel agencies also participated.

Yingtan City is a key destination for many Taiwanese travelers visiting Jiangxi, home to the famous Dragon Tiger Mountain and danxia landforms. Vice Mayor of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, Gu Qing, also stated that Yingtan is a young and vibrant city rich in culture and vitality. Its proximity to the Yangtze River Delta region has also endowed it with abundant tourism resources. The area features 23 types of danxia landforms, including peak walls and stone forests. Dragon Tiger Mountain is also the birthplace of Taoism. Legend has it that during the middle Eastern Han Dynasty, the Celestial Master Zhang refined elixirs here, and “when the elixir was completed, dragons and tigers appeared,” which gave the mountain its name. The 2,600-year-old 202 hanging coffins are another marvel of Jiangxi, making them a must-visit attraction for travelers.
