Still wondering where to go in Taichung? To attract tourists, the Taichung City Government Tourism Bureau has launched the6 Major Tour Routes in Taichung, featuring the National Taichung Theater, recognized as one of the world's nine new landmarks, and the Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden, offering visitors a chance to discover the diverse facets of Taichung.

The Taichung City Tourism Bureau stated that the 6 major tour routes are planned around three sub-centers: the Coastal Twin Ports, the Wuri High-Speed Rail Hub, and the Fengyuan Mountain City. They are as follows:

1."Religious Taichung": Covers the Dajia, Da’an, and Waipu districts, featuring Matsu culture, Iron Anvil charm, Da’an seaside, and Waipu farming and animal husbandry. Key attractions include the Dajia Mazu Temple, Da’an Seaside Park, and the Provincial Farmers' Association Leisure Farm.

2."Ecological Taichung":Centers on the Qingshui, Wujhi, and Shalu districts. Visitors can enjoy wetland sunsets, harbor art, and views from Aofeng. Key attractions include the Aofengshan Sports Park, Qingshui Rice Cake, Wujhi Fishing Port, Wujhi Salt Cake, and the Gaomei Wetlands.

3."Cultural Taichung":Encompasses the Wufeng, Dali, Taiping, Wuri, Dadu, and Longjing districts. It features heritage tours, distillery industries, cultural arts, and the success of the Zhuifen area. Recommended sites include the Wufeng Lin Family Mansion, where Jolin Tsai and Namie Amuro shot an MV together, the Wufeng Farmers’ Winery, the Asia Modern Art Museum, and the Wanggaoliao Night View.

4."Fashionable Taichung":Refers to the original downtown Taichung area, characterized by the Green Corridor, cultural and creative performances, fashionable shopping, and gourmet experiences. Recommended spots include the Miyahara Eye Clinic, the National Science and Technology Museum, the Taichung Prefectural Office, the Art Garden Boulevard, the National Taichung Theater, the Calligraphy Greenway, and the Fengjia Night Market.

5."Sports Taichung":Covers the Houli, Fengyuan, Tanzi, Daya, and Shengang districts. This area is known for equestrian sports, pastries and lacquerware, musical instruments and pottery, and wheat field agriculture. Popular attractions include the Houfeng Bicycle Trail, the Fengyuan Miaodong Night Market, the Houli Horse Ranch, and Lihpao Land.

6."Slow-paced Taichung":Including Shigang, Xinshe, Dongshi, and Heping Districts. The area is known for Hakka indigenous culture, flowers and mushrooms, Guguan Hot Springs, and Lishan tea. During the flower sea season, visitors can enjoy the Xinshe Flower Sea, while outside of this period, they can also visit Guguan Hot Springs, the Bailing Irrigation Canal Memorial Park, and local specialty homestays.

The Taichung City Tourism Bureau also stated that it will increase the number of flights on routes from Taichung Airport in the future. For cross-strait routes, four new destinations — Jieyang, Chengdu, Shenyang, and Changzhou — were added in June this year, bringing the total to twenty-six destinations with forty-eight flights per week. For international routes, efforts are being made this year to secure direct flights to Seoul operated by TransNusa and Uni Air, adding to the existing nine destinations including Osaka, Nagasaki, Oita, and Okinawa, with a total of ninety-two flights per week.
