Kaohsiung's land-and-water sightseeing bus is a huge hit—mainland tourists are also coming to "pay homage"

In addition to domestic visitors, Kaohsiung's land-and-water sightseeing bus has also attracted many mainland tourists eager to "pay homage." The Kaohsiung Harbor Company has decided to increase the number of trips. Starting from August 24, service hours on regular and holidays will be from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On weekdays, trips will run hourly, totaling six services per day. On holidays, service frequency will be increased further to every half hour, offering a total of 11 services.

Huang Chao-hsing, general manager of the Kaohsiung Harbor Company, said that the two land-and-water sightseeing buses, No. 1 “VIVI” and No. 2 “MAYMAY,” feature colorful body paintings depicting beautiful urban icons such as the Pier-2 Art Center mascots, the 85 Sky Tower, and the Chiu Chow Guild Hall. Their eye-catching designs often attract tourists to take photos. Cruising through the city streets, they really stand out. Additionally, the company has created two commemorative stamps featuring playful designs and local landmarks—must-stamps for visitors that leave the most wonderful mementos of a happy city tour.

The land-and-water sightseeing bus’s Love River route departs from the Royal Pier of the Love Boat, travels along Hedong Road to the Glory Pier access channel into the Love River, then proceeds to the Zhongzheng Bridge access channel before returning to the original station. The trip takes about 40 minutes, accommodating up to 22 passengers. While infants under 2 years old ride free, each trip is limited to two such passengers.
