Buses enter campus campuses now available for free rides on two new city express routes in Kaohsiung for one month in September

To encourage university and college students to ride public transportation and minimize injuries and accidents caused by overuse of private vehicles, the Kaohsiung City Government’s Department of Transportation has launched two new city express bus routes — E09 Fengchao City Express from the Weiwuying Metro Station in Fengshan District, and E10 Xiaoyan City Express primarily departing from the Caoya Metro Station.

These two new city express routes connect major universities within the Kaohsiung Academic Park and the Yi-Da Hospital via the Freeways No. 1 and No. 10 from metro stations. They offer faster and more convenient public transport services for students and faculty. Both routes will begin operation on September 1st, with the first month being free of charge.

The Fengchao City Express (Weiwuying Metro Station – Shu-Te University) and Xiaoyan City Express (Caoya Metro Station – Shu-Te University), operated by Kaohsiung Bus, are scheduled to launch on September 1st with the first month’s rides free. Additionally, to enhance service quality, Kaohsiung Bus has promised onboard 4G Wi-Fi and USB charging ports at every seat, all free of charge.

In addition to serving the Shu-Te University campus and Yi-Da Hospital, the Fengchao City Express (E09) and Xiaoyan City Express (E10) will extend their routes during off-peak hours to National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology and National Kaohsiung Normal University’s Yancao Campus. During the initial launch period, one month of free trial rides will be offered to encourage students and faculty to take advantage of the direct transit access to campuses. The goal is to boost public transport usage, reduce private vehicle dependency, and lower traffic accident rates.
