Taiwan Railways adjusts schedules starting October 15 — 206 train services to change timetables!

To enhance transportation quality, Taiwan Railways Administration announced adjustments to the schedules of some services starting October 15, 2015, with a total of 206 train services having their timetables modified. The relevant changes are as follows:

1. The total number of services between Kaohsiung and Chaozhou (including both passenger and freight trains) has been adjusted, increasing from 66 services per day to 118 services per day. Among these, passenger trains have increased from 60 services per day to 107 services per day, and the service interval has been shortened from 34 minutes to 19 minutes.

2. After the double-tracking of the Shoufeng–Nanping section was completed, train meeting times have been shortened by 3–5 minutes, also increasing line capacity. To accommodate the increase in holiday tourism traffic in eastern Taiwan, additional Taroko Express and Tze-Chiang Limited Express services have been added, while transfer options between the Hualien-Taitung and South-Link lines have also been enhanced.

3. All EMU800 series electric multiple units have been put into service. During peak commuting hours in northern Taiwan, some services have been expanded to 12-car formations, while regional trains in central and southern Taiwan have been expanded to 8-car formations. Additional services have been added in the Ruifang area to meet tourism demand, improving passenger convenience when transferring to the Pingxi Line.
