Last updated 2026-11-08 — There must be quite a few night owls in Kaohsiung, as more and more small shops are opening late at night. Night Owl Toast is run by a young couple who have only been in business for a few months but have slowly built up a steady stream of late-night snack customers. With no background in the food industry, they simply relied on their love for eating and solid knowledge of food to open their own shop. All items on the menu were developed by the couple themselves, and they’re very confident in their products—definitely worth introducing to everyone.

There must be quite a few night owls in Kaohsiung, as more and more small shops are opening late at night.

They open at 8 PM, right when most street food stalls are closing. For those who get off work late, it’s often tricky to find a place to grab a simple, filling meal at night. The arrival of a late-night eatery like this is undoubtedly a blessing for many night-shift workers. Similar to a typical breakfast shop, there are a few tables and chairs for dine-in. There are no other staff members—the couple runs the place entirely on their own. Food is made to order, so everyone will need a bit of patience.

There are plenty of menu options, including burgers, toast, egg crepes, and pot noodles—all at very affordable prices.

Seafood & Pork Pot Noodles – NT$65

We weren’t initially optimistic about the shop’s pot noodles, but somehow my husband suddenly craved something warm, so we ordered an extra bowl. That’s when we discovered that the seemingly ordinary pot noodle broth was actually quite delicious. Even though we had already eaten dinner, we each finished a whole bowl of pasta.

The texture of the pasta is a bit firmer—perhaps the shop intentionally avoids overcooking it to keep it al dente. While the side ingredients aren’t particularly outstanding, what really won us over was the broth. The overall flavor is smooth, with a hint of satay to add depth, making it a well-balanced and tasty dish.

Honey Mustard Chicken Leg Burger – NT$50

Most affordable chain breakfast shops don’t usually offer honey mustard sauce, so we were pleasantly surprised to find a honey mustard-flavored burger here. The chicken leg burger is crispy and fragrant, pairing perfectly with the honey mustard sauce. It also comes with a thick fried egg—this combo is truly delicious.

Japanese Grilled Pork Toast – NT$35

The ingredients are thoughtfully selected. Instead of using a plain fried egg, the shop prepares a thick fried egg, paired with lettuce and grilled pork.

The toast isn’t toasted at all—just soft and fluffy. Combined with the egg, lettuce, and grilled pork, it creates a lovely texture contrast. My husband said that even if the inside isn’t crispy, the taste is still excellent, and it doesn’t feel greasy either.

Mom’s Potato Salad Egg Crepe – NT$30

This egg crepe is the shop’s most popular item and is highly favored by customers. It combines potato salad with an egg crepe—seemingly simple, but incredibly satisfying.

It’s not easy to fry the egg crepe crust to a crisp, golden perfection, but the potato salad inside is also well-seasoned, refreshing and tasty. Paired with a crispy, fragrant egg crepe, it’s simply a perfect match. A must-order when you visit!

Red Bean & Job’s Tears Fresh Milk – NT$35

For female friends who don’t want to consume too many calories at night, this red bean and Job’s tears fresh milk is a great choice. Made with fresh milk as the base, it includes red beans and Job’s tears—nourishing yet satisfying for those late-night cravings.

Fresh Milk Tea – NT$30, Black Tea Soy Milk – NT$20

Compared to black tea soy milk, the fresh milk tea isn’t as sweet and is better suited for those who don’t have a sweet tooth. The fresh milk tea has a stronger milk flavor and relatively less tea aroma, making it slightly sweeter.

We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food is at such reasonable prices—it’s hard to imagine it’s all made by a young couple. This is likely thanks to their love for eating out and exploring flavors, which they then recreate for their customers. The fact that customers enjoy their food is the couple’s greatest joy. The owners are young, and since it’s a new shop, many people still don’t know about this hidden late-night gem. For those who love late-night snacks, this is the perfect spot to satisfy your cravings. We highly recommend these tasty and affordable late-night treats!
