The room is like a sandcastle！ A Dutch artist builds an exquisite sand suite for 5,000 yuan per night

The North and South Sand Sculpture Festivals are among Taiwan’s top beach events every summer. Travelers who have visited Mashagou and Fulong to admire the massive sand sculptures have all marveled at the artists’ incredible craftsmanship. Now, sand sculptures aren’t just for viewing—you can actually “stay” in one！ At the annual sand sculpture festival in the Netherlands, an artist created a sand sculpture suite called the “Exquisite Suite.”

According to CNN, this suite is definitely not like the ones you built on the beach as a kid—it has windows, running water, and even Wi-Fi. The piece was built by the Global PowWow team over several weeks, drawing major inspiration from ice hotels in Finland and Sweden.

Some might worry—what if it collapses while you’re sleeping? Don’t worry. Its basic structure consists of thin walls, with reinforced sand used inside and out to ensure it won’t fall down.

Staying overnight here costs about 5,000 Taiwanese dollars per night, including a guided tour of the nearby sand sculpture festival. Just the Friesland Festival alone used 800,000 kilograms of sand, featuring around 30 large sand sculptures. However, all time slots for 2015 have already been fully booked.
