But I decided to stop after just the first day.

Fasting?? Is it necessary? Recently, I’ve often seen people sharing photos of drinking detox vegetable and fruit juices online. The first time I tried it was at a friend’s place (I drank what was left after my friends gave up on their three-day juice-only fast). A young couple each bought three-day sets and decided to do it together. Hearing about their experiences and symptoms during those days was quite interesting—and seemingly very mentally taxing, especially when hunger made the two of them irritable. It really tested the bond of this newlywed couple.

At the invitation of a friend, I also took three trial sets, naively thinking that since I’m not someone who overeats, and with my good habit of eating small, regular meals and consistently maintaining an exercise routine, I should be able to discipline myself to finish the full three-day program. But I decided to stop after just the first day.

The brand I tried was La Pression, which provided eight bottles per day. I didn’t dwell too much on the taste during the experience—the overall flavors were distinctive and quite pleasant. And when hunger struck, opening each bottle felt like unwrapping a delicious treat. The vibrant colors of the juices were instantly uplifting. But the moment I opened the insulated bag, I knew I was in for a challenge.

▲ The insulated bag contained all eight bottles of daily nutritional vegetable and fruit juices, a complete instruction manual, and cooling packs to keep everything chilled inside—how thoughtful.

Whether it’s fitness or healthy eating concepts, juice fasting for detox has become one of the most fashionable global health trends. The idea of not eating any solid food and only drinking juice sounds a bit crazy—what if you faint? Of course, the juice needs to provide a balanced intake of fiber and sugars. Fresh, unsweetened juice isn’t something you can easily find everywhere, so cold-pressed vegetable and fruit juices are the most convenient and healthy option. In addition to having a longer shelf life compared to traditional juices (up to 3–5 days, while ordinary juices lose nutrients in just 15 minutes), these cold-pressed juices also maintain the best nutritional content by using a strict 70% vegetables and 30% fruits ratio without adding water. They’re delivered chilled to your door along with an insulated bag to ensure no nutrients are lost throughout the process. During the juice cleanse, the insulated bag makes it convenient to take your juice “lunchbox” out with you.

Taiwan’s detox juices have the exact same ingredient combinations as those in Europe and America, but the prices are nearly 75% cheaper than the usual USD 170 (around how many Taiwan dollars?) starting price in the U.S. The nutritional value remains uncompromised. I completed the one-day trial set of eight bottles (I promise I didn’t sneak any food), all 100% pure vegetable and fruit juice, unsweetened, with a light, mildly sweet taste and occasional refreshing hints of acidity—not cloying at all, and the varied flavors were amazing. After the one-day light fast and internal detox program, aside from the expected irritability, hunger, and fatigue—all normal bodily and emotional responses from not eating—I realized these were all part of the process, testing my willpower and determination, which actually turned out to be quite beneficial for my mind, body, and spirit.

What stood out most to me after completing this one-day light fast program was that I expected to indulge in a huge feast the next day as a reward, but amazingly, my appetite had changed. My taste buds became much more sensitive—I completely didn’t crave greasy, heavy foods. Instead, I wanted something light. My body was clearly telling me what it needed. What I craved definitely wasn’t steak, barbecue, or fried food. This sensation felt truly magical to me. For office workers who usually eat greasy food, trying out a one-day cold-pressed detox juice cleanse could serve as a gentle internal reset. The little changes brought by the detox juice made me hope to give my gut a cleanse once a week. I also hope to maintain this aversion to greasy and overly salty flavors. I recommend friends who often eat out to skip alcohol for a weekend and try some healthy juice together.
