The Eternal Bird Migration Route

The Eternal Bird Migration Route is situated on Niaoling Ridge at the junction of Wuzhifeng Township and Gaoping Township in Suichuan County. During the Autumnal Equinox each year, it witnesses a breathtaking phenomenon as vast numbers of migratory birds pause during their southern flight. Meanwhile, in early April (Tomb-Sweeping Festival season), numerous migratory birds can be seen heading north over Niaoling Ridge. The Eternal Bird Migration Route, along with Dali in Yunnan and Guilin in Guangxi, is recognized as one of China’s three major avian migration corridors, and also serves as an important stopover site for migratory birds traveling along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
