Ulanhot Botanical Garden
Ulanhot Botanical Garden is situated in the northern part of the city and has been designated as a 2A-level tourist attraction. Originally the afforestation nursery of the Ulanhot Gardening Bureau, it is now an open urban garden integrating afforestation, sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment. The garden has taken on an initial form and currently receives about 300,000 visitors annually.

The roads within the botanical garden are well-connected, with a total paved area of 3.8 hectares. There are four entrances—west, south, east, and north—constructed in 2010. Established areas include the Little Dragon Lake Recreation Zone, Ning Garden, Flower Zone, Mulberry Garden, Twin Pavilion Garden, Conifer Viewing Area, and Broadleaf Forest Viewing Area. The scenery changes with every step, and along the sightseeing routes, various garden features have been arranged, such as a hundred-meter corridor, ancient-style beacon tower (modeled after ancient designs; the city’s remaining Ming Dynasty beacon tower stands 20 kilometers south of the city on the banks of the Yellow River), stream flow, waterside pavilion, gazebo, flower stands, sculptures, boardwalks, fountains, and tensile membrane structures. The construction of the botanical garden not only fulfills functions such as seedling cultivation, afforestation, research, and promotion but also enhances its role as an open garden for sightseeing, recreation, entertainment, and leisure. With a focus on plant landscapes integrated with a variety of natural garden elements, the garden has developed 11 scenic areas: Conifer Viewing Area, Broadleaf Forest Viewing Area, Flower Viewing Area, Psammophyte Zone, Little Dragon Lake Recreation Zone, Sand Willow Island Scenic Area, Ning Garden, Children’s Fun Garden, Green Sea Tea Garden, Green Garden Restaurant, and Mongolian Camp. It also features multiple attractions such as the Artistic Gate Tower, Hundred-Meter Corridor, Beacon Tower, Stream Flow, Waterfall, and Lake Center Pavilion.

Ulanhot Botanical Garden has become a popular spot for local residents to exercise in the morning and relax. Nowadays, the northern suburban ecological forest area and the botanical garden serve as a green barrier against sandstorms and also function as an air purifier that helps improve the city’s air quality.
