Phillip Island Nature Parks
Phillip Island Nature Parks is located on Phillip Island (also known as Penguin Island) in Victoria, Australia, and is currently the world’s largest wild penguin conservation base, serving as a natural habitat for over 30,000 penguins. The most famous attraction here is witnessing the spectacular penguin parade.

For visitors to Phillip Island, the highlight of the trip is watching the penguin parade. However, to protect the penguins’ natural habits, only 500,000 people are allowed to witness this event each year. As dusk falls, travelers from around the world arrive in an orderly fashion at the island and take their seats along the beach, waiting for the little penguins to return home. After sunset, the magical moment arrives—one by one, the tiny penguins emerge from the waves, beaks full of food for their chicks back in the nests. Their chubby, adorable appearance is simply heart-melting. These charming little penguins make their nests in the sand dunes, heading out early and returning late each day. Even in complete darkness, they have followed the same route back to their burrows for thousands of years. The most astonishing thing is how precisely they return to the island—like clockwork—always coming ashore after night has completely fallen and not a trace of light remains.

Visitors watching the penguin parade should note that flash photography is strictly prohibited, as the bright white light can harm the penguins’ eyes. During the penguin parade, the entire island implements a lighting control policy, with only a few low-wattage white lights set up along the shore.
