Xiege’er Town is the largest town in the Mount Everest Nature Reserve, boasting a long history. The ancient castle atop Zongshan Mountain was built during the Wen Dynasty in the 13th century and has a history of over 700 years. The Qude Monastery on the mountainside was established in 1645 and once had dozens of halls and worship rooms, enshrining golden copper Buddha statues and housing tens of thousands of Buddhist scriptures.
