Xiege’er Qude Monastery
Situated in Dingri County, Shigatse, the monastery was established in 1385. In its early days, multiple Buddhist sects coexisted here, with the Sakya, Shalu, and Gelug schools each maintaining seven Dratsangs (monastic colleges). The monastery originally had 15 chapels, with the main statue being a 9-meter-tall gilded copper Buddha of Shakyamuni. During the reign of the Fifth Dalai Lama, the monastery adhered to the Gelug school, and 28 abbots served in succession. In 1985, the temple underwent restoration and now has four chapels, with the primary deity being the Vajradhara Buddha.
