Ananda Temple is the most beautiful structure in the Bagan region, covering an area of about 100 acres with a square layout, renowned worldwide for its balance and harmony. At the center of the courtyard stands the stunning Ananda Pagoda. Its base is a large square Indian-style Buddha cave, with a door on each of the four sides. Inside each door is a standing Buddha statue about ten meters tall. The statues are solemn, their heads slightly bowed as if gazing down at all sentient beings below. Above the base rises the pagoda’s main body, over 70 meters high, presenting an elegant and majestic presence.
