Jinuo Mountain, historically known as Youle Mountain, is one of the six famous ancient tea mountains in Yunnan. It is mentioned in Yunnan’s first encyclopedia of local specialties, "Dian Hai Yu Heng Zhi." The name "Jinuo" comes from the Jinuo language, where "ji" means uncle and "nuo" means descendants — thus, "Jinuo Mountain" means the land inhabited by the descendants of the uncle. This also offers a glimpse into Jinuo culture.
Bathed in the warm sunlight and under the watchful gaze of A’Moyao Bei, the creator ancestor of the Jinuo people, the grand drum gate of the village opens its welcoming doors, hidden among lush, dense forests. The statues of Mahei and Maniu faithfully guard this cherished land of the Jinuo people.
The five sacred pillars of Zhuoba House display its divine authority, while the communal house and longhouse encapsulate the Jinuo people’s daily life experiences. The Jinuo Corridor is engraved with the rich hunting culture and folk art of the Jinuo, and the sunflowers in the Sunflower Garden shyly express sincere emotions. The beats and movements of the Grand Drum Dance are filled with the essence of primitive religious tradition.
On this land, the footsteps of history have passed, the mystical imagination of religion persists, and the unique ethnic customs can be felt everywhere.
