The Koala Conservation Centre is highly popular among visitors to the island. You can walk along the boardwalks to peek at these furry animals’ tree-top homes. Koalas spend most of their time high up in the trees—even sleeping there—and rarely come down. During the day, they usually curl up in a ball and snooze on eucalyptus trees, becoming active only occasionally at night. In the close-up viewing area, you can observe koalas “face to face” in their natural habitat. One of the most surprising things for visitors is just how much koalas sleep—they can doze off while clinging to a tree or sit comfortably on a tree branch for long periods. Their sleeping postures are incredibly adorable and truly enviable.
