Yata Town's Banqi Village Scenic Spot Cultural Tourism Reserve is located in the southeastern part of Ceheng County, near Banqi Railway Station on the Nanning-Kunming Railway, about 60 kilometers from the county seat. The total population in the area is 760, all of whom are of the Buyi ethnic group, with an education level that is considered mid-tier for the county. In 2001, the per capita grain consumption was 325 kilograms, and the per capita income was 1,200 yuan, with residents mainly relying on farming and animal husbandry as their primary sources of income.

Banqi Village boasts naturally formed caves with unique landscapes waiting to be developed, hot springs with year-round water temperatures maintained between 28°C and 31°C, and the largest railway curved bridge in Asia. The area features both karst landforms and fertile farmland. The waters from the caves flow into the Banqi River, resembling a jade ribbon that winds its way into the Nanpan River. At the entrance to the village near the curved railway bridge, there are over 30 ancient banyan trees with sturdy trunks and roots that twist like dragons or pythons, interwoven and covered with lush foliage. Over 40 Buyi households live in stilted wooden houses with blue-brick pillars, nestled among the banyan groves, showcasing the distinctive architectural charm of the Buyi culture. The traditional eight-tone music of Banqi has a history of nearly 300 years, with melodious, cheerful, smooth, and elegant tunes. The instruments, such as the horse bone fiddle and ox bone fiddle, are very ancient, producing tones rich in ethnic character and charm, which have received high praise from experts and scholars. Visitors can admire the curved railway bridge, gaze at the Nanpan River from afar along the Banqi River, explore the caves, and enjoy a soak in the hot springs before resting under the shade of the ancient banyan trees in the village – an experience that is truly refreshing. This is an ideal destination for a summer retreat and one of the key cultural tourism scenic areas for development in Ceheng County.
