Citang Lake

　　   Citang Lake is an important part of the Bailang Lake Scenic Area in the southern part of Tongling City. It consists of two sections, Eastern and Western Citang Lake, bordered to the north by Guangrong Avenue, to the south by Qingtong River, to the east by Tonggui Highway, and to the west by the Yangtze River. The lake covers a natural water surface area of approximately 1,200 mu and serves as a scenic area integrating aquaculture, fishing, and leisure. Current facilities include the Shuikou Scenic Spot, a tourist commodity dock, a temple culture park, and a senior living community. The lake area and its surroundings are shaded by green trees, with mountains and water complementing each other, offering great natural potential for landscape development. In recent years, the Party Committee and government of Datong Town have placed high importance on the ecological environment construction and protection of the Citang Lake Scenic Area. They have continuously improved the development environment and conditions of the scenic area, commissioned the Provincial Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute to draft a detailed plan for the Citang Lake Scenic Area, and proposed the overall concept of “fully protecting and leveraging the mountain-water environment, tapping into cultural resources, and reflecting the characteristics of the times.” The goal is to develop Citang Lake into a leisure and vacation destination offering distinctive countryside tourism for Tongling City and surrounding areas, as well as a transit hub within the “Two Mountains and One Lake” tourism zone. Due to factors such as land freeze, certain attractions and facilities in the scenic area, including an antique food street, vacation and entertainment venues, specialty hotels, a fishing park, Datong Square, parking lots, and the western scenic entrance, have not yet been completed, leaving the overall functionality of the area not fully realized.
