九连城遗址

　　在县城西偏南4°，60公里处，北一公里处为九连城政府所在地，东临张宝公路和九连城淖，其址平面呈长方形，南北长920米，东西宽760米，城墙残高1—3米，下宽25米，上宽１６米，城墙上有高出城墙l一2米的半圆形土墩32个，半径15米左右．其分布上四角各一，东、西各8个，南北各6个。东西南三向辟门，门宽约13米，城内南北各有一椭园眙，长轴52米，短轴26米。

　　　　城内曾出土过大量的铜钱，茶绿釉广口厚沿缸和其所装的人骨，以及白釉或篮彩瓷片，埙灰陶片等物。

　　据《察哈尔省通志》：“九连城在县城西南，距城(宝昌城)65里，内有长碑一块，洗净露出致和元年(1328年)，兴和路宝昌路样”。从现有资料看，辽称之为狗泊、金称之为昌州、建昌县、狗泊、宝昌，元延用称宝昌州，后谓其九连城。1982年定为省重点文物保护单位。

九连城遗址为全国重点文物保护单位。
