Former Residence of Sun Tongxuan

　　The former residence of Sun Tongxuan is located at No. 68 Chongqing Road, Heping District. Built in the 1930s, it covers a construction area of 733 square meters and features a brick-concrete structure. It is a three-story Western-style building with an irregular floor plan and forms its own courtyard.

　　

　　Sun Tongxuan (1895~1978)　　Sun Tongxuan (1895–1978), courtesy name Yinting, was a native of Jiaohe, Hebei. A general of the Northwest Army, he joined Feng Yuxiang’s troops early in his career. During the War of Resistance against Japan, he served as Commander-in-Chief of the Third Army Group and participated in the Battle of Taierzhuang. Sun Tongxuan was an upright individual with a strong sense of national dignity, progressive thinking, and revolutionary leanings. He had connections with the Chinese Communist Party from an early stage. When stationed in Yanzhou as commander of the 20th Division of the Kuomintang’s Third Route Army, Sun governed his troops with discipline and order. As a result, there were no incidents of harassment or troublemaking towards civilians during his tenure.
