Longdong Waterfall is located in Zhongying Town, Qinglong County, 75 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Changliu Township to the north, Huagong Town to the south, connects with Longyin Town of Pu’an County to the west, and faces Liuzhi Special District of Liupanshui City across Guangzhao Lake to the east. With a drop of over 500 meters and a width of nearly 30 meters, the waterfall cascades down with great force, presenting a magnificent and spectacular sight.
Near the waterfall, layers of mountains, lush forests, and airy foliage complement the rushing waters, creating a beautiful and pleasant scenery. Here, the softness of water and the ruggedness of rock form an inseparable bond, producing a symphony that can be felt with your whole being — truly a breathtaking spectacle. In summer, Longdong Waterfall displays a majestic presence, with its torrential flow crashing down like shattered gold and jade, stirring awe and evoking a sense of heroic grandeur. On clear, sunny days, when the sun shines brightly, the waterfall resembles a silver dragon glistening with radiant colors, exhaling thick mist that forms rainbows in the sunlight. These rainbows flicker in and out of view, creating a magical and otherworldly atmosphere that is both surreal and enchanting.
In winter, during the dry season, the waterfall becomes a gentle stream. The frozen river presents a completely different scene — gone is the thunderous roar of the past, replaced by the quiet persistence of a slender flow that testifies to its enduring life. There is no more beautiful sight to compare. Come blazing summer, the revitalized waterfall roars with the strength of lions and tigers, shaking the heavens and earth, amid swirling white mist and rainbows stretching across the sky. The Longdong Cave, mysterious and magnificent, stretches 2.5 kilometers in length with a river running through it. Inside the dark cave, through the veil of the waterfall curtain, the roaring torrent crashes down with immense kinetic energy, producing thunderous sounds that shake the ground and echo through the valley, demonstrating the overwhelming power and majesty of nature. The thick mist and clouds shroud the valley in a dreamlike haze. Legend has it that before liberation, this area was a hideout for bandits. Today, remnants such as stone mills and stone mortars can still be found inside. Elders say battles once took place here — “The Battle of Longdong — a legendary historical tale.” The cave is filled with bizarre rocks and fast-flowing waters, making it a paradise for explorers. Cliffs are home to waterfalls and ancient trees, while beneath the falls lie hidden rivers dotted with unique stones, which in turn flow into Guangzhao Lake. The area boasts diverse and stunning scenery, making it a promising destination for future tourism development.
