Peony Commercial Plaza

　　In November 2003, planning and construction began on Peony Commercial Plaza. During the construction, over 300 old houses and shanties were demolished, with a total demolition area of 23,000 square meters. After more than a year of work and an investment of 260 million yuan, the current modern commercial plaza covering over 80,000 square meters was completed, integrating shopping, leisure, entertainment, and tourism. The plaza features a dynamic musical fountain, a cascading artificial waterfall, a mesmerizing water screen movie, dazzling light displays, lifelike bronze sculptures, quaint bridges and flowing streams in the style of southern China, lush greenery, and the first female cavalry honor guard in southwestern Shandong. During the day, the plaza bustles with activity and prosperity; at night, with lights aglow, crowds gather to sing and dance, making it an ideal destination for leisure and entertainment. In 2005, it passed the provincial-level inspection and acceptance for outstanding property management projects. Peony Commercial Plaza has received high praise and acclaim from central, provincial, municipal, and other regional authorities as well as various sectors of society. Zhao Zhihao, former Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee, visited the plaza and inscribed the words “Model Commercial Street.”
