Ocean World in Yehliu
Situated in Wanli Township, Taipei County, right next to the Yehliu Scenic Area, fifteen kilometers northwest of Keelung on a protruding cape by the sea, it is surrounded by a uniquely privileged natural seascape. The year-round open ocean park is the only dolphin performance venue in the country, with spacious seating that can accommodate 3,000 people, attracting countless visitors every holiday. In addition to the adorable dolphins, Ocean World in Yehliu also features beluga whale and sea lion performances, as well as regularly updated international acts such as high diving, synchronized swimming, and acrobatic shows—each thrilling and worth looking forward to. Each show lasts about 60 minutes.

The coastal landscape of the Yehliu Scenic Area is rich and diverse: including mesa cliffs, candle-shaped rock formations, the Queen’s Head, marine erosion platforms, sea caves, and other dozens of unique landforms, all of which inspire awe at nature’s craftsmanship.

Off the coast of Yehliu, there is an area of submerged reefs teeming with a wide variety of marine life. Through the glass bottom of a sightseeing boat, you can observe the underwater world from inside the cabin—featuring artificial fish reefs, schools of fish, coral, anemones, squid, shrimp, crabs, and sea urchins, all colorful and breathtaking. You can enjoy the wonders and fascinating underwater ecology of the seabed without even having to dive.

Ocean World in Yehliu features an approximately 100-meter-long underwater tunnel aquarium, displaying nearly 200 rare species of fish and marine creatures, with regular updates. It's an ideal educational experience for families and was built underground at a cost of tens of millions, emphasizing unique behaviors and uncommon fish species. The marine biology specimen exhibition area showcases a variety of precious marine mammals and fish, both in physical form and as skeletons, offering strong educational value. The Dolphin Memorial Hall displays dolphin specimens, where you can see massive dolphin models and rare deep-sea fish specimens from Japan known as “sea dragons,” giving visitors the sensation of being underwater.

The signature performance at Ocean World—the sea lion stunt show—features the trained animals skillfully performing under the guidance of their trainers. Don’t let their round, plump bodies fool you; their agile movements in the water rival those of any other marine animal. This is also one of the most popular shows at Ocean World in Yehliu, always sold out. The dolphin performances at Ocean World are beloved by both adults and children. Dolphins come ashore to greet the audience, learn various challenging moves, and display gentle temperaments and delicate emotions. These intelligent and empathetic marine creatures leap out of the water, tracing perfect parabolas in what could be described as the aquatic ballet of the animal kingdom—an amazing spectacle to behold.

The spectacular performances at Ocean World in Yehliu attract many visitors. It’s not only a great destination suitable for family outings and group trips, but also highly educational, allowing both kids and adults to gain knowledge and broaden their horizons. Coupled with the crowds drawn to the Yehliu Scenic Area, this has led to the booming popularity of Yehliu tourism, with homestays, hotels, and other tourism-related businesses gradually emerging, giving visitors the chance to fully experience everything Yehliu has to offer.
