租界址位于蒙自县城。中法战争之后，根据1878年签订的《中法续议商务专条》，蒙自开为商埠，县城东门外辟为租界址。蒙自海关，法领事署随即建立，法，英，意，日，德，美，希腊七国设领事。
洋行，银行，铁路局，监狱，教堂，酒店等相继建立，计30余处。于1889年开关后，帝国主义列强对我国恣意掠夺。现存海关税务司署，法国领事署，花园，监狱，希腊哥胪士洋行等五处，为帝国主义侵华遗迹。
