Zhenbai Li Archway

Stone Archway Name. Located in Zheng Village, She County. Originally built in the late Yuan Dynasty, it was renovated during the Hongzhi and Jiajing eras of the Ming Dynasty and the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty. It features a wood-like structure, with two pillars and three stories in one bay, standing 8 meters tall and 5.7 meters wide. The inner sides of the stone pillars have mortise slots for door frames, and wooden lattice doors were once installed. The plaque on the second floor bears the “Inscription on the Zhenbai Li Gate,” written by Cheng Wen, a compiler at the Hanlin National History Institute of the Yuan Dynasty, among others, aiming to commend the virtuous local family of Zheng Qianling spanning three generations. The first-floor architrave features the three seal script characters “Zhen Bai Li” (“Honest and Pure Neighbourhood”), inscribed by Yu Que, who held the title of “Fengzheng Daifu Qian Zhejiang Donghai Youdao Susizheng Lianfangsi Shi.” The main components of the archway are still in relatively good shape, but the deep reliefs on the beams and some inscriptions have suffered severe erosion.
