Former Residence of Zheng Zuoxian
Zheng Zuoxian, born in 1898 in Dalang Village, joined the revolution while studying in Guangzhou in 1927, and was martyred in 1928 at the Cheweipao Fort Central Islet in Guangzhou. The existing former residence of Zheng Zuoxian is a late Qing Dynasty building with a brick-and-wood structure. Based on the traditional architectural style of Lingnan residences, it incorporates Western-style decorative elements, making the entire building elegant and unique.

This former residence is located on the mountainside along the Sui River in Dalang Village, known as the "Bamboo and Water Scenery Gallery." It was built in the late Qing Dynasty. Directly opposite the residence lies the lush Green Bamboo Mountain, and at the foot of the mountain lies the sparkling, picturesque waters of the Sui River. On both banks of the river, dense stands of Li bamboo (a type of timber bamboo) are reflected in the water, creating a poetic and picturesque scene that enhances the tranquility and beauty of the surroundings.

During the May Fourth Movement, while studying at Huaiji Middle School, he joined with other progressive youths from Huaiji—such as Deng Baqi, Liang Yizhu, Liang Xurun, and Chen Siyan—to form the Huaiji Branch of the Great Chinese National Student Patriotic Association. They mobilized students to take to the streets for demonstrations and rallies in support of the May Fourth Movement in Beijing. After graduating from Huaiji Middle School (now Huaiji No. 1 High School) in the autumn of 1921, he went with Deng Baqi to Shanghai Pudong Middle School to study English and science subjects in preparation for university entrance exams. During this time, he frequently interacted with the "Liangan Students' Shanghai Association..." Details+
