West Sea Grand Canyon

Introduction Also known as the Dreamlike Scenic Area, it is located at the foot of Danxia Peak. According to the Huangshan Annals: “Huangshan has long been described as majestic in the south, elegant in the north, wondrous in the east, and mystical in the west.” The scenic area spans 25 square kilometers, stretching approximately 15 kilometers from Diaqiao Nunnery at the western entrance of Huangshan to Paiyun Pavilion. The canyon is surrounded by peculiar peaks and strange rocks including Stone Pillar Peak and Stone Bed Peak in the south, Thin Blade Peak and Flying-over Rock in the east, Paiyun Pavilion, Danxia Peak, and Pine Forest Peak to the back, as well as Nine Dragon Peak and Cloud Beyond Peak in the northeast. Covering an area of 25 square kilometers and extending about 15 kilometers from the western gate of Huangshan, Diaqiao Nunnery, to Paiyun Pavilion, the valley boasts numerous famed peaks, ancient trees, and uniquely shaped rocks—such as “Immortal Drying Boots,” “King Wen Pulling a Cart,” and “Wu Song Fighting the Tiger.” Twin Dragons Pine hangs precariously on the cliff edge, while Danxia Peak, Nine Dragon Peak, Stone Bed Peak, Stone Pillar Peak, and Thin Blade Peak rise majestically. Tip: The paths in the scenic area are rugged with significant elevation changes, requiring considerable energy and time.
