Ancient Weir and Painting Village Scenic Area

　　Ancient Weir and Painting Village is located in Bihu and Dagangtou, about twenty kilometers from downtown Lishui. The core area includes Dagangtou, Yantou, Pingdi, and the Baoding area, boasting profound historical and cultural heritage and a rich cultural atmosphere. The Longli and Lili expressways have exits here, Provincial Highways 53 and 50 run through the entire region, and it connects to the national railway network via Lishui Station on the Jinhua–Wenzhou Railway, offering convenient transportation. It is also just over 100 kilometers from Yiwu, China’s largest small commodities market. Ancient Weir and Painting Village presents a complete picture of Lishui’s ecological beauty and cultural richness to the world.

　　The concept of Ancient Weir and Painting Village was first proposed by Lou Yangsheng, Secretary of the Lishui Municipal Committee, when discussing the positioning of the cultural industry project in the Dagangtou area.

　　“Ancient Weir” highlights the area’s deep historical and cultural roots. It is home to the Tongji Weir, a national key cultural relic protection unit built in 505 AD, as well as ancient streets, pavilions, docks, ancient celadon kiln sites, various ancient villages, and clusters of ancient camphor trees. These elements vividly showcase the natural and rustic beauty of this Jiangnan-style ancient town with its genuine landscapes.

　　“Painting Village” emphasizes the cultural characteristics and development focus. The area is renowned for the “Lishui Barbizon School of Painting” both within and outside the province. It houses the Lishui Barbizon Exhibition Hall, Lishui Oil Painting Academy, Ancient Weir and Painting Village Exhibition Hall, and the Ancient Weir and Painting Village Branch. There is also a professional art sketching and creation base—the “By the Water Sketching and Creation Base” (located in Dagangtou Town, 23 kilometers from downtown Lishui, and serving as a teaching and training base for the China Academy of Art and its affiliated high school)—as well as the Lishui Jiulong Barbizon Sketching and Creation Base.

　　Get off at the terminal stop of Bus 203 in downtown Lishui. The first bus departs at 6:30 AM, and the last at 7:00 AM. Alternatively, buses to Dagangtou Town (where the scenic area is located) are usually available at bus stations in several counties and cities around Lishui.

　　Admission Fee

　　The ticket price is 30 RMB, or 40 RMB for the ticket plus a round-trip boat ride. Children under 1.2 meters tall are admitted free of charge. Seniors aged 70 and above with a valid ID card can enter for free (boat tickets are not included). Seniors aged 60–69 with a valid ID card can purchase discounted tickets for the scenic area.
