The ancient brick wall of Jiangcun is said to have been built by Jiang? of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Jiang? was the son of Jiang Wanli from the Southern Song Dynasty, serving as the military governor of Deqing Prefecture and Minister of War. According to the “Guangxu Deqing Prefecture Gazetteer,” during the Song Dynasty, Jiang? served in Kangzhou. He then settled in Shuangduo Village, Qinrenli, Erdu, Jinlin Township, where he passed away and was buried behind the village at Shengling Ridge. … Later,
his descendants lived near his tomb, and thus Shuangduo Village was renamed Jiangcun. Also, according to the “Guangxu Deqing Prefecture Gazetteer”: “Jiangcun was formerly called Shuangduo (Duo) Village and has an ancient brick wall as well as the tomb of Jiang?.”
Currently, the ancient brick wall of Jiangcun remains largely intact, especially the northern wall and the three northern gates, which are well-preserved. Protecting this over 700-year-old ancient brick wall of Jiangcun holds significant cultural heritage value and tourism appeal.
