  Jade Emperor Temple

Located on Panshou Mountain to the south of the county town, the temple consists of three rooms entirely built from massive stones, retaining the architectural style of the Song Dynasty, with murals still preserved inside. To the west of Yishen Ridge lies Fenghuang Mountain, on which stands the Temple of Wang Bojian. Wang Bojian was a general of the Wagang Army during the late Sui Dynasty peasant uprising. A native of Xingyang Junyi, he was once granted the title of Langya Duke by Li Mi. In the fourteenth year of the Daye era (618), after Li Mi was defeated by Wang Shichong, Wang Bojian surrendered to the Tang Dynasty together with Li Mi, but later rebelled against the Tang as well. When he fled to the area around Jianqian in Yishen Ridge, he was shot dead by pursuing Tang troops. He was buried in Wangmuling Village at the foot of Yishen Ridge. The locals, moved by his loyalty and righteousness, built the Temple of Wang Bojian on Fenghuang Mountain. During the Northern Wei Dynasty, Emperor Xiaowen passed through this area and, seeing the mountain mist swirling and undulating like a moving dragon or python, bestowed upon it the name Yishen Ridge. The ridge is home to the Temple of Emperor Xiaowen of Wei, a courtyard-style temple facing south with a stage and side rooms.
